Welcome to our studio. I am Bavani Krishna, a self-taught candle artist who discovered the craft of candle making in 2023.

Our studio was born in late 2023, named after our 1st pup (fondly referred to as our baby), Laika. He joined our family  shortly after we got married. Laika was a fun loving, sensitive, intelligent & a truly amazing 1st fur baby to us. He played a major role in our lives & was part of countless memories that we will cherish forever.

Life took an unexpected turn where Laika passed away (with us by his side, deeply sad but thankful we were there for him) from hemangiosarcoma in June 2023. He was 8yrs 6 months & 10 days old, pretty short life for a golden retriever. Our family (including our 2nd pup, Simba, who adored Laika) had a lot to learn from Laika's passing. Time heals wounds and for some, it takes longer but life continues.

Through a healing process, a guiding light paves the path.

For one of our family festivals, I decided to make candles as a thank you favor. For a non-artistic individual, I found the process of candle making relaxing & enjoyable. It was my first time making candles and I could see myself smiling once again after the tragic event. I felt, it was Laika's will to keep our love going through the light that illuminates our lives hence this studio was born. Being an anthophile, floral patterns caught my interest which inspired the Peony selection.

As I progressed my candle making, I partnered with the support of local business to sell my candles, receiving lot of love and support for our artwork.

As time unfolds, our studio will continue to grow, offering designs in flora, fauna, pets and many more. Each of our candles is crafted with love and inspirational thoughts.

Candle burning holds close meaning to individuals - for a ritual, spiritual, purity, peace, beautifying your space, meditation or whatever your purpose may be, Laika Candle Studio looks forward to serving your purpose.
